ENGLISH MANKES is a two-piece band from Amsterdam NL. Their music breathes a blend of cinematic folk with a hint of the North-European and Mediterranean areas, topped off with a healthy dose of noisy and dark textures. The musicians play various instruments each, resulting in a remarkable sound: mesmeric folk noise one might say. MANKES will hypnotize you with their tribal sounds with gothic elements and then shake you up like two punk-demons with their art-noise. Every song tells a specific story as well as contributing to the bigger picture. Don't miss out.
MANKES released several (mini) albums and video's, toured through Europe and played numerous shows in The Netherlands. A wide variety of venues witnessed the band hypnotizing it's audience: festivals, living rooms, galeries, theaters and clubs. MANKES incorporates various art forms and co-worked with poets, a dance school, video artists and cinema's.
MANKES likes to keep an organic and sincere profile with a strong DIY approach.
NEDERLANDS MANKES is een tweekoppige band uit Amsterdam NL. Hun muziek ademt een donkere mix van filmische folk met Noord-Europese en Mediterrane invloeden, aangevuld met een gezonde dosis noise. De muzikanten bespelen elk verschillende instrumenten, wat resulteert in een opmerkelijk geluid in de geest van folk-noise/post-gothic folk. MANKES hypnotiseert met tribale klanken en gothic elementen om je vervolgens met hun art-noise als twee punkdemonen door elkaar te schudden. Elk nummer vertelt een specifiek verhaal en draagt bij aan het grotere geheel.
MANKES bracht verschillende (mini)albums en video's uit, toerde door Europa en speelde talloze shows in Nederland. Op de meest uiteenlopende locaties – festivals, huiskamers, galeries, theaters en clubs – wist de band haar publiek in vervoering te brengen. MANKES incorporeert verschillende kunstvormen en werkt met enige regelmaat samen met dichters, een dansschool, videokunstenaars en filmhuizen.
